I think I chose the back and white photograph of Audrey Hepburn siting in a chair for the twin-mes to draw because I have used the photograph before in my Velasquez painting. http://alisongoodman.com.au/ron/portfolio-selection/nggallery/image/las-meninas-with-ron-alison-and-xander
I also think it evokes the art school practice of getting students to draw white statues and still-life of assorted white-painted objects. http://bob.machighway.com/~christ17/ADVANCED_LEVEL_ART/Still_life_set-up_files/2basic-forms-photoBW-filtered.jpg
When I was considering the kinds of matrix representations (see The Matrices post) of my 20 objects (e.g. line sketch, B&W photo, colour drawing etc) I toyed with the idea of a a matrix of the object painted white (I was really looking forward to all that modelling). I now think that this might be a mistake. The black and white sketches are not sketches of white objects. When I made the sketches I had in mind an actual full colour 3D object, and in the case of the animals a smelly, furry or feathery warm body. The sketch omits the colour because any depiction can only ‘selectively commit’ to representing properties of the depicted object or object type. A drawing of a duck is not a decoy duck (see Flint Schier). Any medium you choose to use as a mode of representation will selectively commit to properties of the object such as size, colour, texture, tone and 3Dness. Line drawings omit tone, color and 3Dness.

Hi Ron I am speaking my mind.
